Kite Choir
(Australia)
A chorus of dreams carried on the wind.
Look up. Listen.
A vibrant field of handmade kites rises along the Sydney Opera House Northern Broadwalk, carrying a choral soundscape created from the recorded voices of young people around the world. Songs, whispered hopes and nature-inspired sounds come together in an ever-changing and airborne soundtrack of aural and visual art shaped by clouds, wind and movement.
Walk beneath the installation and hear voices drift overhead, or pick up one of the interactive kite spools to gently shift pitch, layer echoes and become part of the music yourself. Every moment sounds a little different.
Created by Holly Austin and Cubbyhouse Co. with Playable Streets, Kite Choir is a world premiere transforming one of Sydney's most iconic public spaces into a place for gathering, reflection and play. Free and open to everyone, it's an invitation to pause beneath a shared sky and experience the wonder of listening to dreams together.
