Long Distance Relationships: Asia Pacific Engagement in the Arts
Does distance make the heart grow fonder?
Geographically close, yet often worlds apart. Australia has spent decades talking about engaging with the Asia Pacific. But are we actually in a relationship, or just perpetually introducing ourselves?
Beyond the fly-in, fly-out festival circuit, what does it take to build and sustain creative relationships with intimacy? How do unequal resources, mobility and power shape the terms of exchange? Who is left holding the cultural and administrative baggage?
Hosted by Sydney Festival Artistic Associate Nithya Nagarajan, this industry roundtable spotlights Indigenous, diasporic and internationally-based voices, inviting them to bring their hard-won wisdom, spectacular failures and unfinished questions to the table.
This is a space for generous disagreement, and collective thinking toward a regionally connected future.
