CORIN / Maggie Tra
(Philippines/Cambodia/Vietnam/Australia)
A diasporic double-bill of ancestral electronica.
CORIN (Corin Ileto) is an electronic producer, performer and composer whose acclaimed 2023 album Lux Aeterna was hailed by The Guardian as one of the best Australian albums of the year for its "eclipsing, intense world-building". As part of Sonic Rituals, she presents DIWA, a visceral audiovisual exploration of Filipino ancestry and mythology based on her forthcoming album with VFX artist Tristan Jalleh. DIWA combines live performance on the Filipino kulintang gongs with live electronica and immersive visuals traversing volcanic and oceanic landscapes inspired by the Philippines.
Across two nights of experimental music, CORIN will be paired with label head and musical polymath Maggie Tra, who brings finesse and flair to the dance floor. Sonic Rituals will see Tra showcasing the beginning of Srey's Refuge, Home at Last, a deeply personal performance that blends traditional Khmer dance with contemporary movement and ancestral instruments with club-ready electronics, set against stunning visuals by Jo Ngo. Together, these two singular artists create musical maps of memory and cultural inheritance.
