Chatter
(USA)
Slapstick absurdity that is shockingly real.
Anxious clown Spencer Novich (American Horror Story, Cirque du Soleil) takes you on an absurdist, slapstick ego-trip deep into the bowels of his own psyche. There’s a shit joke in there somewhere, but we’ll leave it to the professional to tell it best.
A deeply personal story portrayed with the wit, nuance, and physicality of a professional clown and veteran of the international circuit, CHATTER combines Spencer’s singular physical-performance style with director Lorenzo Pisoni’s experience in Broadway movement direction, theatre and clowning: the result is a work that delightfully flips, flops, toots and pirouettes through several genres.
This twisted comic journey wrestles with the inner critic—complete with naked balloon nightmares, shock-collar surprises, and eight-hour enemas. Will he break free or spiral deeper into the noise? Join this fretful, award-winning idiot to find out.
