Watch Festival Director Wesley Enoch on the 2020 projects inspiring Australians to rethink nationalism
"In 2020, I love this notion that we have 2020 vision on this one."
Watch Sydney Festival Director Wesley Enoch in discussion with University of Technology Sydney Senior Researcher Alison Whittaker, discussing the events and art installations at Sydney Festival 2020 that inspire Australians to think about more inclusive ways to celebrate our national holiday; celebrations and commemorations that take into consideration Australia’s Indigenous heritage, as well as its colonial institutions and contemporary multicultural migration.
The 2020 Festival's projects include large-scale art installation Proclamation; the ceremonial Procession smoking of the city's streets ahead of The Vigil, an overnight opportunity to gather campfire-side and experience a night of performance and reflection on the eve of Australia Day; and the UTS Big Thinking forum: Rethinking Nationalism, with Wesley Enoch, The Guardian's Lorena Allam and UTS professors Lindon Coombes and Robynne Quiggin.
