A message from our Festival Director, Kris Nelson.

Welcome to the Sydney Festival 2027 program

Welcome to a summer where the world is at your fingertips, ready to be savoured. Here’s your call to get deep with dance, drama, dialogues and delights as we showcase the most exciting artists from across this nation and abroad. Whether digging into our brand-new entertainment hub at The Yard, or one of our many gigs, plays, and installations across this great city, start your year with a feast for your mind, spirit and heart.

Explore a monumental dance series, Dance Reflections; it’s a dazzling array of the world’s most visionary choreography. Encounter life's big stories with premiere theatre works from international trailblazers Dead Centre, Jaha Koo and Jéssica Teixeira. Select from a stellar line-up of Sydney’s star artists: Emma May Gibson, Megan Wilding, Jonny Hawkins and more. Get soulful with our Blak & Blues music hub at the Metro, witness two groundbreaking premieres of major Indigenous works by Nathan Maynard and Marrugeku, and literally take the plunge at the unreal art park waynapuni pools: it's junked up cars transformed into saunas and steam baths.

You can electrify your imagination in new ways in familiar spaces like Sydney Opera House and Belvoir, take part in the buzz as we transform the Cutaway into a house of dance and explore the city’s brand new Powerhouse Parramatta. Throughout you can follow a trail of interactive, outdoor, free installations for families. From a choir of dream-laden kites to spectacular handmade Filipino parade costumes, this is a festival where you can make, build, play, watch and wonder.

Summer’s calling, how will you answer?
