Placemaking NSW manages some of Sydney’s most iconic harbourside precincts and places including The Rocks, Barangaroo, and White Bay Power Station.
Darling Harbour is a unique gathering place and global destination where people from many cultures come together to share experiences, celebrate, and enjoy a multitude of public spaces and dining venues.
With around 27 million visitors a year to the precinct, Placemaking NSW continues to revitalize Darling Harbour as a modern, accessible, and enjoyable precinct with plenty of open space for recreation and play.
Placemaking NSW is proud to have partnered with Sydney Festival; what better way to celebrate summer in Sydney than to bring the annual Sydney Symphony Under the Stars back to the heart of the city? This year’s special birthday edition of the Festival’s beloved musical tradition will celebrate Sydney’s artistic spirit with a moving First Nations orchestral work, followed by a journey through 50 years of Festival moments. Featuring archival footage, stunning artwork, and exquisite live music from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, this night in Darling Harbour will be an unmissable event beneath the summer sky.
Darling Harbour is proud to also host Observer, Observed on Pyrmont Bridge, where the spectator becomes the spectacle. Fresh from New York City’s High Line, pedestrians can step right up to these bronze binoculars and in getting a closer look at Darling Harbour, the Harbour will get a closer look back at you. A camera within will broadcast the spectator’s peeping eyes onto a large screen, visible from across the precinct.
