Set in a seedy watering hole, Cantina blurs reality and fantasy, the past, present and future to explore the rapture and torment of desire through illusion, contortion, tightrope and acrobatics. In the wondrous surrounds of The Famous Spiegeltent, and with a live soundtrack played on antiquated and bizarre instruments, this is vaudeville up close.
Co-directed by Scott Maidment and Chelsea McGuffin (Smoke & Mirrors), this critically acclaimed and award-winning piece has enjoyed sold out seasons across Australia and abroad. Co-created with seven highly-skilled circus and physical theatre performers drawn from such illustrious troupes as Circus Oz, acrobat, Circa and Circus Cirkor, Cantina arrives direct from a five month headline season at London’s Southbank.
