Megan Heyward (Australia)
A pilgrimage, magical mystery tour and adventure trek rolled into one, Megan Heyward's site-specific work Notes for Walking is a rich and intriguing exploration of Middle Head Reserve near Mosman.
Using GPS and location-based technologies, participants use their smartphones to find a set of short video ‘notes' as they traverse the old naval fortifications on the headland. It is a landscape of underground mazes and spectacular views of Sydney Harbour.
A set of image, text, video and audio fragments inform and enrich the experience, leaving the individual to look at the world beneath their feet anew. With interactive components encouraging people to take photos and leave messages, Notes for Walking draws people into a poetic journey of discovery.
Notes for Walking is now available for download in the App Store or search the App Store for 'Notes for Walking'. The App requires Wi-Fi to download - please download before arriving on site.
