Entity
Presented by Sydney Festival in association with Arts Projects Australia
By Wayne McGregor | Random Dance
Australian Exclusive
‘A great sexy beast of a piece.’ Sunday Times
‘McGregor…is doing some of the most exciting work in ballet on the planet.’ New York Times
Entity is epic – an astonishing large-scale production blending movement, machinery, music and light, firmly placing choreographer Wayne McGregor and his company Wayne McGregor | Random Dance at the cutting edge of contemporary culture.
A prolific dance maker, and the first Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet to come from the world of contemporary dance, McGregor has in the past year alone delivered world premieres for New York City Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet and The Royal Opera House. He has choreographed films and created headlining sets for Glastonbury Festival. In 2011, he makes his debut with the Bolshoi Ballet.
McGregor’s choreographic language explores the relationship between the thinking mind and the moving body. Taking a radical approach to new technology, he stretches the human form in thrilling, strange and unexpected directions.
With a fierce soundscape featuring a specially commissioned electronic score by Coldplay collaborator Jon Hopkins and music by Joby Talbot (The Divine Comedy), Entity is an emotionally uncompromising white-knuckle ride of a show: ambitious, absorbing and completely riveting.
Latecomers will not be admitted.
