‘Her music boldly goes into territory where other traditional musicians fear to tread.’ BBC Radio 3
Virtuosic accordion player Sharon Shannon is one of the most exciting and adventurous musical spirits to emerge from Ireland in the past ten years. She is revered as one of the great innovators, and has recorded and toured with artists including Sinéad O’Connor, Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, Steve Earle and Nigel Kennedy.
Shannon performs with an all-star Anglo-Irish band: banjo legend Gerry O’Connor (Four Men and a Dog), acoustic guitarist Jim Murray and All Britain/All Ireland Champion fiddle player Dezi Donnelly. In 2009, Sharon Shannon was awarded the Meteor Lifetime Achievement Award.
