Over the course of their near two-decade career, New York trio Medeski Martin & Wood have made improvisation their language. With bold intentions to popularise contemporary jazz their sound is tempered by soul, funk and rock embellishments.

Through their long-honed group chemistry and individual precision, keyboard player John Medeski, drummer Billy Martin and bassist Chris Wood make even the most sophisticated rhythmic and harmonic ideas instantly accessible to their listeners, while imparting the simplest statements with a profound resonance and clarity.

Their wide-ranging appeal has seen the group support rock bands Morphine and Los Lobos and members of the trio contribute to projects of Grammy-winner Rickie Lee Jones and revered American jazz musician John Scofield.

With each performance, Medeski Martin & Wood spontaneously shape ideas, embarking on a journey whose destination is unknown even to them.
