Ernie Dingo announced among stellar cast for Bran Nue Dae
Australia’s best-loved Aboriginal musical Bran Nue Dae gets a major 30th birthday revival for Sydney Festival 2020, with a stellar cast just announced.
The cast list stars legendary Australian actor and presenter Ernie Dingo, reprising the role of Uncle Tadpole – a part he first played 30 years ago for the musical’s first staging.
TV and stage great Dingo is joined by a hotshot young cast including singer/songwriter Marcus Corowa, theatre newcomer, model and actor Teresa Moore, singer Andrew Moran and actors Tuuli Narkle and Callan Purcell.
Paying tribute to the strong familial legacy of Jimmy Chi and Kuckle’s Bran Nue Dae, the cast and crew features three generations of family: original Kuckles member Stephen Pigram plays in the band; his daughters Naomi Pigram and Ngaire Pigram feature as Associate Director and cast member Aunty Theresa, respectively; and their children Taj, Tehya and Bojesse all perform in the ensemble.
Bran Nue Dae comes to Riverside Theatres Parramatta for Sydney Festival from 16 January to 1 February 2020 – tickets are on sale with the full program on Thursday 31 October.
