South Eveleigh

Proudly showcasing Jenny Kee: The Aunties

South Eveleigh is a vibrant and diverse destination on the southern fringe of Sydney’s CBD.

Renowned as one of the city’s most exciting new precincts, it’s home to some of the city’s most sought-after venues including Kylie Kwong’s Lucky Kwong and the internationally awarded sustainable bar, Re.

With incredible green spaces and public grounds, there are also a variety of fantastic takeaway eateries and restaurants, making it a great location for great food and to take in some of the rich history and culture South Eveleigh has to offer.

BrewDog South Eveleigh is set to open its first Sydney venue in late 2022, located within the historic Locomotive Workshop of South Eveleigh with its beer garden in the leafy, tree lined Innovation Plaza.

An indoor and outdoor gallery, South Eveleigh is filled with curated public art, one of the world’s last remaining industrial blacksmithing workshops, Eveleigh Works, from which the leaves of the Eveleigh Tree House were forged by the local community.

Joining these will be Jenny Kee: The Aunties artwork, enormous inflatable squiggles sprouting up in South Eveleigh this summer, dressed in their brightly knitted best. These charismatic creatures are a bold new interpretation of iconic Sydney artist Jenny Kee’s iconic UniOz design, and a celebration of its original creator who has helped shape Sydney’s visual identity.

The creatures are outsized representations of Auntie Marge and Auntie Una – Jenny Kee’s real aunties – both highly skilled and successful sewers who supported and guided Kee towards the top echelons of design and couture.

Come visit the Aunties at South Eveleigh this summer – just a few minutes walk from Redfern Station.
