Sydney Festival presents murundak, an extraordinary concert which gathers together some of the most respected Indigenous names in Australian music history for one night only.
Winner of the 2006 Best Australian Contemporary Music Concert, this once in a lifetime event is a living, breathing expression of Aboriginal history, resilience and identity. Two years in development, murundak is a social memoir charting in song the past thirty plus years of Australia's social history from the Indigenous perspective.
murundak is performed by The Black Arm Band, a 28-piece ensemble that includes Kutcha Edwards, Shane Howard, Ruby Hunter, Jimmy Little, Archie Roach, Ursula Yovich, Emma Donovan and more.
With styles as varied as the performers, ranging from rock and pop to jazz, blues and country, many of the songs are performed by many of the original songwriters and artists. There are songs everyone will recognise - Shane Howard's Solid Rock, Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly's From Little Things Big Things Grow, Yothu Yindis' Treaty and Neil Murray's My Island Home.
