QUEERSTORIES

Join Maeve Marsden, Matthew Mitcham and some of Sydney’s best storytellers for a few of our city’s Queerstories. Hear reflections on lives well lived and battles fought, pride, prejudice, love and humour. The LGBTQI community has been sharing stories for centuries, creating our own histories, disrupting and reinventing conventional ideas about narrative, family, love and community. Settle in to the Sydney Festival village and listen to an unexpected tale or two, with tunes from Matt’s rusty ukulele. Celebrating music, humour and storytelling, Queerstories is curated by cabaret masterminds, blackcat productions.

RANT!

Has someone or something really got your goat? Nothing like a good rant to clear the air! Join our special guest writers and performers for an event that will have you laughing at the world at the same time as you curse it. In this special edition of Late Night Library at the MeritonFestival Village, cantankerous host David Henley and a slew of cranky creatives will tell you how it is and entertain you all at once. Special guest ranters include Kate Forsyth, Maria Lewis, Peter Polites, Elena Gomez and Sam Paine.

Seizure is a national platform that promotes Australia’s best new writing talent. Visit seizureonline.com for more information about their publications and events.

Wednesday 20 January

LIBRARY FOLK

Late Night Library brings you two young NSW based folk artists, Alex Guthrie (Newcastle) and Taryn La Fauci (Sydney). Allow them to serenade you as you sit back, relax and soak in summer at the Meriton Festival Village Lawn Library.

This event marks the first Late Night Library collaboration between emerging Sydney curators Alexandra Mitchell and Claudia Roosen.
