SYDNEY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

ARIA award-winning performer, composer and didgeridoo player William Barton joins the Sydney Symphony Orchestra to perform Peter Sculthorpe’s Beethoven Variations for didgeridoo and orchestra and Barton’s own Birdsong at Dusk.
Contrasted with pieces by Beethoven and poetry and prose readings by Anita Heiss, this is an evening of classical music and the sounds of contemporary Indigenous Australia.

SHAKE by Romaine Moreton who is a writer, film maker and performance poet, from the Goernpil people of Stradbroke Island and the Bundjulung people of northern New South Wales. Her most recent collection is Post Me to the Prime Minister.
UNITY by the late great Kevin Gilbert. Born into the Wiradjuri nation, he was a poet, essayist, playwright and Aboriginal rights advocate. He was the first Aboriginal person to write a play The Cherry Pickers. He also edited Inside Black Australia: An Anthology of Aboriginal poetry.
SYDNEY REAL ESTATE FOR SALE by Brenda Saunders. Brenda is an artist, poet and activist, with family connections to the Wiradjuri language group of New South Wales. Her poetry and articles can be found in poetry journals and collected anthologies.
A NEW DAY DAWNING by Richard Frankland. Richard is a proud Gunditjmara man - a singer, songwriter, author, poet and filmmaker. His poetry appears most recently in the Yarning Strong educational series.
