The leading museum of art in New South Wales and Sydney, and one of Australia's foremost cultural institutions. It holds significant collections of Australian, European and Asian art.


The first major exhibition of Francis Bacon's work to be seen in Australia now comes to the Art Gallery of NSW, part of the Sydney International Art Series. With over 50 rare paintings, including some of Bacon's most well-known triptychs, as well as archival material from his studio, films and photographs, the exhibition covers every decade of his career.

Entry to the Gallery is free, the major exhibition Francis Bacon is ticketed. Tickets for this exhibition are based on timed entry and can be purchased through Sydney Festival or The Art Gallery of NSW.

The Domain is wheelchair accessible. An accessible viewing area for patrons with a disability and their guests is located on the eastern side of The Domain between tower 6 and 7


Limited spaces will be available for RTA Mobility Parking Scheme Permit Holders and must be booked before the event on 02 8006 5700.


Public Transport


The Domain is on the Sydney Explorer bus route, and St James and Martin Place stations are a 10-minute walk from the venue.
