Opera Australia and La Fura dels Baus (Australia/Spain)
Un Ballo In Maschera Giuseppe Verdi
Prepare to be amazed by Spain's La Fura dels Baus, the ground-breaking company that has staged powerful versions of Berlioz's The Damnation of Faust and György Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre as well as its take on Macbeth, ØBS, at Sydney Festival 2002.
Innovative director Alex Ollé and designers Alfons Flores and Lluc Castells create a striking tale of deception, disguise and fate, conducted by Andrea Molino.
This Opera Australia collaboration is a first for Sydney ahead of seasons abroad. Acclaimed soprano Tamar Iveri and rising tenor Diego Torre make their role debuts as Amelia and Gustav III, while the outstanding José Carbó portrays Count Anckarstroem and Mariana Pentcheva plays Ulrica Arvidson.
A feast for the senses.
