Paul Kelly - The A to Z Shows
‘His voice – sly and warm, laconic and sometimes frail – may be the closest thing we have to a national one.’ Robert Forster, The Monthly
‘If I was only allowed to listen to one artist for the rest of my life, I would choose Paul Kelly.’ Kasey Chambers in The Daily Telegraph
Affectionately known as the People’s Poet, Paul Kelly is a born storyteller and recognised as one of Australia’s finest singer-songwriters. He is adored for his richly detailed and beautifully descriptive lyrics that tell tales of everyday places, underdogs and anti-heroes.
Armed only with his guitar and a piano, and joined by a couple of special friends, Kelly takes audiences through three decades of his highly celebrated work. Over four nights, he will perform 100 songs – in alphabetical order with no repeats.
From ‘Adelaide’ and ‘Before Too Long’, past ‘From St Kilda to Kings Cross’ and ‘How to Make Gravy’, all the way through to ‘To Her Door’ and ‘When I First Met Your Ma’, these four nights will be the perfect opportunity for aficionados and newcomers alike to soak up the songs and the stories behind them.
The concerts coincide with the release of Kelly’s first book, How to Make Gravy, and an eight-CD box set, The A to Z Recordings. Whether it’s two verses and a chorus or a 550 page book, he doesn't waste a word.
The song list will be different each night.
Please note there is no support for Paul Kelly, Paul Kelly will be on stage at 7.30pm
By arrangement with One Louder Entertainment and Artist Voice
