Summer Sounds in The Domain: Los Lobos

Supported by ANZ

‘Free' and ‘concerts' are two words that everyone likes to hear in the same sentence. In 2011, Festival in The Domain offers an extravaganza of music and performance under the stars.

A Sydney Festival favourite, Festival in The Domain delivers a stellar live music line-up and provides the perfect opportunity to invite friends and family to sprawl on a picnic rug on The Domain's grassy expanse.

This year Summer Sounds in The Domain takes on a distinctively Tex-Mex flavour. East-LA Chicano rock legends Los Lobos are joined by Sydney-based, seven-piece mariachi band The Real Mexico for a performance that brings fiesta to the Festival.

With a career spanning nearly 40 years, and three Grammy Awards under their belts, Los Lobos are the consummate showmen. They cut their teeth touring the world with greats such as Bob Dylan, U2 and Grateful Dead, and have collaborated with the likes of Tom Waits and Elvis Costello.

Skyrocketing to world-wide attention with their 1987 hit ‘La Bamba', Los Lobos have a reputation as a formidable live force and their infectious Latin beats and rhythms will have The Domain crowds on their feet.

Los Lobos will be supported by contemporary Flamenco group Arrebato Ensemble.

The stage is hosted by Joe Hildebrand and Robbie Buck from 4pm onwards. Join us for spot prizes, the raffle and other entertainment.

5:15 - 6:00 ARREBATO ENSEMBLE
8:00 - 8:45 THE REAL MEXICO
9:05 - 10:35 LOS LOBOS

All proceeds from our raffle at Summer Sounds in The Domain will be donated to the Queensland Flood Appeal.

We strongly recommend using public transport - call 131 500 for information.
