'The Hendrix of the kora.' - Music News
Seckou Keita is a shining advocate of the rhythmically rocking repertoire of southern Senegal. Keita and his quintet blend traditional West African roots music with modern European jazz and classical music influences to produce a unique sound driven by Keita’s spectacular innovations on the kora (a 21 string harp).
The quintet is formed by Keita, Egyptian violinist Samy Bishai, Italian bassist Davide Mantovani, Gambian percussionist Surahata Susso and the bluesy vocals of Binta Suso.
Seckou Keita Quintet is also performing at The Famous Spiegeltent and Sutherland Entertainment Centre. For more information, click here and here.
