Last night Sydney Festival took home multiple honours at the Sydney Music, Arts, and Culture (SMAC) Awards, recognising Sydney Festival’s contribution to the excitement and vibrancy of the city each January. The SMACs presented to Sydney Festival were:

BEST MAJOR FESTIVAL 2009 - Sydney Festival
BEST MUSIC EVENT 2009 - All Tomorrow's Parties
BEST PERFORMER 2009 - Cate Blanchett (The War of the Roses)

After tallying of thousands of online votes, organisers stated that the FBi Radio & Time Out Sydney SMACs were won by "the artists, musicians, venues, promoters, creators and culture-makers who keep Sydney's heart beating". Thanks goes to everyone who supported Sydney Festival in this year’s awards.
