A.R. Rahman Concert - Wrap Up
Thankyou to everyone who attended for helping make A.R. Rahman's free Sydney Festival concert such a huge success!
The two-time Oscar winner and one of India's greatest superstars performed a spectacular show in Parramatta Park last Saturday night to over 50 000 people. To view photos from the night, click here.
Here's a selection of some of the great press we received about the concert:
According to The Sunday Telegraph, "His show, with its signature intoxicating beats - including Jai Ho, from the film Slumdog Millionaire - featured 40 dancers and musicians in colourful Indian costumes, accompanied by a laser show adding to the vibrancy. An enthusiastic audience sat on rugs and picnic blankets, grooving and swaying to the music."
"There’s no question many members of the audience, who seemed familiar with much of the material had the time of their lives," The Australian wrote.
The Sun Herald summed up the night: "Peace, understanding, tolerance - and a touch of Bollywood magic. The ingredients combined seamlessly at Parramatta Park in Sydney’s west for a one-off free concert by A.R. Rahman."
We recorded some interviews with attendees at Parramatta Park - watch them here.
The concert will also be aired on ABC Radio National's Music Deli program - broadcast times to come soon!
Jai Ho!
