Sydney is loaded with world famous icons, it has the Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and beautiful beaches, but it doesn’t have its own dance.  Until now.

Sydney Festival brings you The Sydney – a dance specially choreographed for Festival First Night by one of Australia’s leading choreographers, Australian Dance Theatre’s Garry Stewart.

Just after sunset on January 10, all  ten open-air stages will stop and our special guest dance instructors from Swing Patrol will teach everyone The Sydney. We want the crowd (that’s an anticipated 250,000 people for Festival First Night) performing simultaneously, transforming the CBD into possibly the world’s largest dance floor!
