Join Dan Zanes, former lead singer of rock group The Del Fuegos, his Brooklyn-based band and eclectric music guests as they perform irresistible grooves inspired by all kinds of music from folk roots to early rock ‘n’ roll. Having incited a pint-sized Beatles-like mania throughout the USA, now Dan Zanes brings his rousing family gig to Sydney.

With soulful folk favourites, dance classics, West indian social music and fun catchy originals, both kids and adults can sing along in this high-spirited hootenanny.

Embraced by the music industry, and by thankful parents everywhere, Dan Zanes’ award-winning albums are hip enough for Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Debbie Harry and Philip Glass to have made cameo appearances, but accessible enough for the under tens to sing along.

I was awestruck! Hubby and I took our two year old and we were all up on our feet dancing by the time Dan was wheeled out on a trolley and presented to his young fans. Hubby had been on nightshift and I hadnt been well and our plan was to sit quietly whilst toddler bopped and spent her energy. Nobody can sit still with Dan Zanes and friends! They were delightful, mingling with the audience, inviting the kids onto the stage, and then chatting to us all afterward. They have recorded with many respected musicians, including Debbie Harry and Nick Cave, and have completely sold this family on the idea of house parties with plenty of friends, music and dancing. No need for a specific occasion. The occasion is life!
