The way Samsung Mobile Secret Shows work is simple – we don’t announce who’s playing until the day and tickets are only on sale at the door from 5pm on the day – cash only and limited to two per person.

KALOOME, THE CATALAN GYPSIES (FRANCE)
These Catalan Gypsies of Southern France bring alive the spirit of Flamenco and Rumba in a virtuosic display of guitar, percussion, vocals and dance. Kaloome are in Sydney as part of the Gypsy Queens and Kings, this is a one-off chance to witness an authentic musical taste of what happens when you merge flamenco and gypsy musical styles.

BEN WALSH & THE ORKESTRA OF THE UNDERGROUND – FANTASTIC PLANET PREVIEW
Take The Bird, Hermitude, The Crusty Suitcase Band and Ponyclub Massacre and you have the eclectic culmination of artists that is The Orkestra of the Underground. The Orkestra will weave together a live score to the animated film Fantastic Planet. This intimate performance will be a preview to the band’s show at iiNet Films Afloat.

ROWLAND S HOWARD – DIRECT FROM ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES
Rowland Stuart Howard is a Melbourne based guitarist and songwriter, best known for his use of electric guitar audio feedback in the post-punk group The Birthday Party (with Nick Cave) and his collaborations with Lydia Lunch and Nikki Sudden.

KRISTIN HERSH FROM THROWING MUSES – SOLO AND ACOUSTIC SET
Kristin Hersh from Throwing Muses and Paradoxical Undressing presents a solo and acoustic set, ‘The Shady Circle’ - a set of old Appalachian folk songs that she learned as a child. Described as “morbidly sweet with a sharp sense of humour”, ‘The Shady Circle’ is a second collection of folk songs that followed her 1998 release ‘Murder, Misery and Then Goodnight’. Kristen has recently performed a series of ‘The Shady Circle’ gigs in fans’ lounge rooms.

MATTHEW HERBERT (DJ SET) WITH MAD RACKET DJS
Fresh from his Big Band performance at Sydney Opera House, electronic music maestro Matthew Herbert gets set to mix up a storm at The Famous Spiegeltent with a booty-shaking, genre-defying DJ set. This special, one-off Secret Show is FREE and in The Famous Spiegeltent.. it will be a night to remember. Get there quick as this event will fill up quickly!

MARTINA TOPLEY-BIRD (UK)
Fresh from her performance at Big Day Out, Martina Topley-Bird gets set to unleash her musical charms on a Sydney Festival audience. With a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize under her belt, Topley-Bird's sound weaves influences from dub, jazz, rock, electronica, dance and soul. She has collaborated with musical powerhouses including Tricky, Gorillaz and Danger Mouse and was one of the great originators of Bristol Trip Hop in the mid-90s.

SPUNK RECORDS NIGHT – WITH HOLLY THROSBY, JACK LADDER & GUESTS
Spunk Records showcases two of its local stars. Holly Throsby will be performing songs from her release “A Loud Call” in a rare solo show. Jack Ladder will also be playing tunes from his popular album "Love Is Gone". There’ll also be a few surprises in store so don’t miss this show!
