The poetic jazz of Misha Alperin’s Moscow Art Trio picks up Moldavian and Russian themes, playfully mixing their character with spirited improvisation, repetitions, wild outbreaks, moments of stillness and lovely melodies discover common ground in their music.
Classically trained Alperin founded the trio in 1990, choosing musicians with differing musical fortes. Alperin had already been playing as a duo with French horn player Arkady Shilkloper, a former member of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra and Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, when they teamed up with vocalist/clarinetist Sergey Starostin, whose specialties are the vocals and traditional wind instruments of russian folk music.
Together, Moscow Art Trio interlace folklore and classical elements, embarking on a fascinating journey between loyalty to tradition, openness to the world and the joy of experimentation.
Please note: There is no support act for this show and Moscow Art Trio will be on stage at 5.30pm sharp on January 24 and 7pm on January 25.
