Over 20 years, Joe Henry has left a unique imprint on American music. His poetic songs incorporate a broad swathe of American musical styles - rock, jazz, soul, folk-imbued blues and alt-country stylings.
With his growling, soul-inflected vocals and tales of a shrewdly observed America, Henry is often likened to Tom Waits. A songwriter with a deeply reflective point of view, the warring forces of romance and chaos in his songs give his live shows an unforgettable emotional impact.
Henry has produced a grammy Award®-winning album for Solomon Burke, as well as producing for Teddy Thompson, Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint and Ani DiFranco. He has collaborated with the likes of T Bone Burnett, Daniel Lanois, Madonna and jazz icon Ornette Coleman.
Joe Henry will be joined by accomplished double bassist David Piltch.
Please note: There is no support act for this show and Joe Henry will be on stage at 7pm sharp.

I was pretty bored to be honest, musically not much is happening, meanwhile, his lyrics are just indecipherable and don't live up to his so called reputation. |

I have no idea what Dawn is on about, his performance was classy and intimate. Between the moments of music, he took time to make some conversation with the audience to create a truly remarkable atmosphere instead of simply ploughing through a set list. Then there's the music - SECOND TO NONE. It makes me wonder how artists like James Blunt achieve their fame ahead of a craftsman like Joe. An unforgettable night out, I wish I had gone to all three! 5 stars. |
