Java, Emilie Chick Trio, DJs Dubchaman, Lars Ollo
French multi-instrumentalists Java mix rap, hip hop, samba, reggae, ragga, rock, jazz, funk and electro with circus spirit and manic humour. Java's unique take on urban music blends references, from the streets of Paris to the avenues of Rio. A hit at the Bar in 2005, their woozy accordion, hypnotic grooves and creative sampling make for an energetic, jubilatory live cocktail.
French-American songstress Emilie Chick has lent her sensual voice to numerous collaborations with the likes of Quizz, Charles Webtser, Atjazz and London-based electro hip hop DJ collective Dapond. Fresh from winning Gilles Peterson's 2008 Worldwide Festival Talent Search, she reunites with fellow Dapond members Son of Kick and Mr Fish in the Emilie Chick Trio.
Producer/DJ/rapper/singer/songwriter, Son of Kick brings his vast palette of electro, break-beat, dubstep, ghetto-tek and hip hop to the table while turntablist Mr Fish adds his extensive collection of world influenced tunes into the mix.
A cumbia beats, reggae, dancehall, gypsy roots and dub specialist, Argentinean born Dubchaman represents the Sydney alternative Latin scene. With a flair for the rare groove and an ever-expanding taste and knowledge of music styles, Dubchaman has been following this passion for music and honing his talents since 1994.
They are joined by Lars Chresta, one half of Sydney-based electronica duo Ollo who have been wowing people around the globe with their aural alchemy and garnering comparisons to everyone from the Beta Band, Tunng and Can, to Hot Chip, Fourtet and Matthew Herbert.
