Soulful, intimate and gracious, Bon Iver is the project of Wisconsin-based indie folk singer-songwriter Justin Vernon. His debut album For Emma, Forever Ago has been hailed as a striking debut and unassuming masterpiece by critics and fans alike.
Vernon spent three winter months alone in a remote Wisconsin hunting cabin recording For Emma, Forever Ago after the tumultuous breakup of his long-time band. This time alone fed a bold, uninhibited new musical focus and by spring he had written a series of thickly-layered songs draped in lush orchestral chords, with only an aged acoustic guitar and the occasional bass drum providing the graceful structure.
His shimmering voice shifts smoothly from a spectral falsetto to deeply soulful, grainy tones, layered over and under his spare, atmospheric instrumentation.
Please note there is no support act for this event.
Bon Iver is also playing at The Famous Spiegeltent in the Samsung Mobile Festival Garden.

Hey fans, I bet you any money that if you camp out at Tix for next to Nix you will get seats (in Martin Place, I think you can only buy two tickets at a time). Go the night before to be sure you are first in line though. Last year, was it last year? forgotten now, anyhow I camped out for Lou Reed tickets by going the night before. Worth the tiny inconvenience although you do have to have a catch-up nap before you head out that night. |
